30 Day Challenge: Day 5

A picture of your favorite memory.

I have so many favorite memories.  But honestly, I don't have a lot of pictures of most of them... so I scoured my mom's old blog, and found this one.  The second I saw it, memories came flooding back and a big smile reached from one side of my face to another.

This was the first real play in which I ever participated.  I was playing the Queen in Cinderella, aka Prince Charming's mother.  I had a great time, and I love those people.

And how about another favorite memory, since this post is short.  :D

This is shortly after I "met" (aka skyped with) my now best friend, Lauren.  It's a screenshot she took of us being goofy.  We were comparing thumbs.  Go figure.

Have a great day!!

30 Day Challenge: Day 4, and a plea to the guys and the girls

A picture of your night.

I like to wind down by dabbling in my makeup and doing fun, crazy looks.  You should see some of the things I do to my face sometimes!

Tonight I didn't actually play with my makeup much, I just was testing a new smoky eyeliner trick I made up.  But I did curl my hair, because if I curl my hair at night about an hour before I go to bed (it needs to cool completely) it looks great in the morning, and that cuts a good amount of time from my getting-ready schedule.

I'm pretty sure I just heard all the boys who read this blog go "AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH."  And oh?  What's that?  Ah, it's the collective clicking of a bunch of red X's in the top corner of their internet browsers.

Sorry.

-----

In other, more gender-neutral news, if there are even any males still with us after that one, I've got the terrible urge to read something amazing.  I want something with adventure; something that will make my heart pound.  Something with great writing and a dose of levity here and there?

Now that I'm done being overly-specific, do you have any suggestions?  Really, please let me know if you can think of anything.  Just leave a little comment.  And most of my commenters are girls, so let's switch it up.  Girls should definitely still comment on this one, but guys, don't be shy, I don't bite.

I see y'all on my followers list.  I know you're there.  I trust your knowledge on adventurous tales.  Boys seem to like that sort of thing, or so I hear.

Just give a blogger a hand.  I'll even announce which book I chose!

Thanks for not leaving me, even after all this effort I'm forcing you to put forth.

Sincerely,

30 Day Challenge: Day 3

A picture of the cast from your favorite show.

This was a tough challenge, to say the least!  Since I live in Italy, I don't watch a whole lot of TV.  It's difficult to keep up with shows because the Italian TV runs on an odd schedule.

So for today, I decided to go with the show that I have watched the most of.  When I was sick, I used to steal the seasons out of my brother's room and just sort of check out for a couple of hours.  It's cheesy; definitely what I would call a teen soap.  But it has good action, and it's easy to watch.  (And let me just note, I don't like the past few seasons.  I like the first 4 or 5 seasons the best.)

It's a show about Clark Kent, aka Superman, as a teenager.  Clark spends his days figuring out his newfound powers and fighting Kryptonite-infected highschoolers.  It's got action, romance, and some comedy, and I love this show.

Have a great day!

30 Day Challenge: Day 2

A picture of you and the person you have been closest with the longest.

(That phantom arm behind me is my dad's.  I didn't want to cheat on this assignment, so I cropped out my mom and dad.   It's hard to find a picture of just me and Will because he's usually the one behind the camera lens taking pictures.)

This is me and my big brother, Will.  We took this picture a couple of weeks ago when we were in Chattanooga visiting him at college.

I love that boy so much!  He's an amazing photographer, and he's got a hilarious sense of humor.  Since he went to college he's gotten so much older-looking, but to me he's just my awesome brother.  We rode in his car the other day (the car of gold that smells of old) and I was slapped with a wave of nostalgia.

We pretty much both grew up in Hawaii where we were together all the time.  We used to go everywhere in that little car, with the 80's music cranked way up.  Sure, we have our moments of sibling frustration, but there's no one else that I would pick to be my big brother.

Love you, buddy.

So here we go with Day 1!

This was my favorite outfit this winter.  People kept telling me I looked very "French."  Hmm.    (And this picture turned out blurry on blogger; I'm not sure why.)

15 Things:

1.  I love to do crazy things with my makeup when no one's around to laugh at me.

2.  I like to read on my Kindle, but when I pick up a real, live book, I like to smell it and flip the pages between my fingers and listen to the binding creak as a new story is unmasked.

3.  I still have no idea what my career-calling is.  I know I want to be a wife and mother over anything else, but I have to choose something to fall back on in case that just doesn't happen.  I have so many things I'd enjoy doing for my career, that I just can't choose.

4.  When people ask for my advice in regards to style, hair, makeup, etc., it just makes my day.  I love doing that for people.

5.  I used to be really, really freckly.  I mean really, really, really freckly.  But I started wearing sunscreen every day, and now I hardly have any freckles on my face at all.  Pale as a ghost.

6.  I keep having dreams about meeting my fellow online scholars this summer in Pennsylvania.  It's going to be a blast!

7.  Lately, I've struggled with a bit of social anxiety.  I don't mind talking to grown-ups, and I don't mind talking to teens if I'm in a place where I'm comfortable and where they are the new person.  But lately I've been in situations with a bunch of new teens I've never met, and it scares the life out of me.  I'm going to get over it by making myself go to my grandparents' church's youth group on Wednesday... I just have to face the music, folks.

8.  That dog in my last post?  Yeah, sorry if there was a miscommunication, but she's not mine.  She's my grandparents'.  Boy, am I going to miss her when I go back home!

9.  I spoil that dog.

10.  I sleep in the car (accidentally) anywhere I go.  Today, on the way to dinner, I slept so hard that when I woke up, my head was just hanging down on my chest and had caused an awful crick in my neck that still hasn't gone away.  Mental note:  lean head against window.

11.  I don't know what to wear the past few days.  We packed for cold weather because that's what they were having here before we came.  Then, it got really warm and we bought a bunch of t-shirts.  Now it's in the 40s.  I have no idea how to handle this.

12.  Along the same lines, I'm no good at season changes since I grew up in Hawaii.  I keep telling my mama and Yaya what I want to buy for different styles and they keep saying "It's almost spring.  That's too wintry."  I have no idea how to handle this.

13.  I love to debate.  Most of the kids in my online school do, and I love just really getting in there on big topics.

15.  I haven't worn heels for about two months.  I was standing next to my Yaya in church and realized I felt strange, being so close to the ground.  Usually when I go to church with her, I'm towering above her because of my church heels, but I didn't bring them because of the weather/seasonal issues.  I'm 5'8, so you can imagine I might be a bit lofty in heels.

And that's all for now, folks!  I'm going to try not to do anymore lists for a few days.  See you tomorrow!

Miss Murphy

The dog was cold, so I zipped her inside of my sweatshirt.  This left my hands free....

Isn't she the cutest?

And no, I'm not wearing makeup.  But neither is Murphy, so we're even.  Don't you just wanna cuddle her?

It's a Fiesta!

I'm joining a little blog party, so if you're new here, welcome!  My name is Caroline.  If you want to know a little bit about me, I live in Rome, Italy, and you can click that little bar up there with information about me.  I'm 16 years old and a junior in high school.

Here's a little more about me:

How would people describe your personality? (If they could only use ONE word.) Are they right?

One word?  Goofy.  The end.

What celebrity/celebrities would create a “Star-Struck” feeling if you saw them in real life?

My favorite blogger is The Pioneer Woman.  Without question.

What is your comfort food/drink?

My comfort food is pasta.  Just plain noodles with butter, parmesan, and sea salt, or olive oil and sea salt.  My comfort drink is a Venti No Classic Breve Iced Coffee at Starbucks, which is just fancy terminology for "a ginormous cold coffee with half and half and no sweetener."

Be brave – tell us something very random and weird about yourself.

Well, you can read the "About the Author" tab to hear some really weird things.  Only thing I can think of now is that I have this strange thing about sleeves on my wrists.  Unless it is positively arctic outside, I push my sleeves up past my elbows.  I don't like them on my wrists; it makes me uncomfortable.

Do you have a strong desire to do something you’ve never done? What is it?

Yes, I would very much like to go on some sort of crazy adventure, full of intrigue and suspense, like in the movies.  A safari in the wild rain forests, perhaps?  We shall see.  :D

Movies: Action, Drama, Romantic Comedy, Documentary, Comedy? What are your favorite genres?

Romantic comedy, comedy, and action.  And in regards to action, it can't be too intense.  For instance, I can watch Transformers, but I can't stomach something that's too violent unless I have my daddy's shoulder to hide my face in.

Books: Fiction, Non-Fiction, Romance, Biographies, True Stories, Self-Help, Devotional/Study?

I like fiction, especially historical fiction.  I've read so many historical fiction books.  I do like fantasy, like The Chronicles of Narnia, but I don't like ALL fantasy.  For instance, Lord of the Rings is not at all my cup of tea.

What are your favorite types of reading material?

I like my Kindle and just any entertaining historical fiction books.  But I love to read fashion magazines.  Our British friend gives me her Grazia magazines when she's through with them.  I just like to look at the ads to get hair/makeup inspiration.

Music: Funk, Rock, Country, Jazz, Classical, Film Score, Blues, Classic Rock, Crooner, Alternative, Heavy Metal, Techno? What are your favorite types?

Hmm.  This is hard!  I like most music... it's probably easier to say what I don't like.  I don't like Heavy Metal and Techno.  Everything else I enjoy.

If you inherited a million dollars, what is the first thing you would do with your money?

I'd buy my mama and daddy a cozy house by the water.

Name one weakness of yours (confession is good for the soul).

I would say chocolate, but that's just horrendously cliche.  I'd say a weakness of mine is makeup.  If I see something I like at the store, it's so hard not to buy it.

If you could live anywhere at all (and take all your loved ones with you), where would you go?

I would live in Hawaii again!  I grew up there and I miss it a lot.

Strange Talent? Can you juggle basketballs, put your legs behind your head or perform some other strange feat?

Well, I used to be able to lay on my stomach and touch the tip of my nose with my toes by bending them back like that, but I don't know if I could do it anymore.  I was born very flexible but I'm a little worried I've wasted it.

I'm not good at limbo anymore, either.  How low can I go?  Not very.

What’s something you consider yourself to be good at? (Don’t worry, it’s not bragging, it’s acknowledging a God given gift).

This makes me uncomfortable.  *twitch*

I guess... I can sing and act.  But I can't dance, so Broadway is sort of out of the question.  Two left feet right here.

What is one of your favorite things to catch a whiff of?

I love it when my mama browns ground beef for spaghetti or soup.  She puts a bit of onion or something and some oil I think (I'm very perceptive) and it just smells so good as it browns.

When you leave a social gathering, do you wish: You would have talked more or You would have talked less?

Oh, I almost always wish I had talked less.  I have trouble with the whole hushing thing.

If money wasn’t a factor, what stores would you shop in?

Mac (not computers), Lush, Banana Republic, still Target, Nordstrom's, Ulta, and Sephora.

What is your greatest fear or strange phobia?

Apiphobia.

What is your greatest accomplishment?

Not losing my mind completely yet?

What are your favorite animals?

Ooh! Ooh!  I know this one!  I like dolphins, yorkies, little monkeys, tigers, and lemurs.

Are you a hopeless romantic?

Utterly.

What movie or book character can you most relate to?

In Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey, I completely relate to Catherine.  We are the same person.

Thanks for stopping by!  Y'all come back now, ya hear?

Some words about pictures and stuff and things

Some photos of Chattanooga, Tennessee.... I love that city.

Taken from the Walking Bridge

A pretty park by the water

Perfect day for a boat ride!

Will and Dad

After Chattanooga, we went to Alabama to visit family.  However, I took no pictures because I was just having way too much fun!

I don't have much else to say... either because I've been doing so much, or if I just rambled on about it, it would bore you to death.  I did, however, along the way, leave my makeup kit at my grandma's cabin.  I got it back the other day, and I've been having fun.  I spent a few minutes tonight playing with my lipstick and doing my hair.

I've been seeing a lot of my bloggy friends do OOTD (outfit of the day) posts, but I think maybe, since I love hair and makeup, I can do FOTD (face of the day) and HOTD (hair of the day) posts with a few OOTD's sprinkled in here and there.

This is my first FOTD/HOTD!  Let me know what you think!

Trying to rock the head-scarf and not sure if it's working.  Smiling in spite of it.

Maybelline ColorSensational 065 Hooked on Pink lipstick (and I will go ahead and admit I airbrushed this shot lightly for your viewing pleasure.  I can't leave you thinking my skin is that creamy... no, I've been having a bit of dryness around my mouth and didn't want to scare you.)

Ok, so this one isn't so flattering.  But my camera was wigging out and snapped this picture while I MYSELF was growling at it, and really, it's a keeper.  :D

That's all for now, blog-eroonies!  I've got more coming in the next few days, but life is still pretty hectic.  I'm enjoying staying with my grandparents right now, and I'm just trying to stay away from the internet more than usual while I'm here.

Have a good day!!
